BV track & field student-athletes land SDCCTFCA Academic All-State honors

Fourteen Brandon Valley High School students have earned Academic All-State honors by the South Dakota Cross Country & Track & Field Coaches Association. Requirements for this honor is a senior must have a 3.5 GPA or higher, competed in the sport for at least three years, and be nominated by their head coach.

Brandon Valley honorees are Mia Bannwarth, Mary Kolbeck, Lucille Peterson, Hannah Preheim, Josey Wickersham, Emily Wright, Nathan Andresen, Hayden Ask, Brayden Cline, Tyler Groen, Isaac Johnson, Jameson Kreutzfeldt, Tristan Niewenhuis and Nate VanDeBerg.

BVBA organizes 2023 Pizza Ranch Gold Glove tourney

The 2023 Pizza Ranch Gold Glove Tournament is scheduled for May 26-28.  The tournament will feature 9u, 10u, 11u, 12u, 13u, 14u and 16u divisions.

SDHSCA Hall of Fame inductees named

Sherri Knippling, president of the South Dakota High School Coaches Association, recently announced the names of the newest members of the SDHSCA Hall of Fame.

This year’s inductees are: Gary Culver of Vermillion (football); Lyle “Dusty” LeBeaux of Pine Ridge (basketball); Bill Marquardt of Sioux Falls (basketball); Audra Rew of Mitchell (gymnastics); Joe Schlimgen of Plankinton (basketball); and Kurt Schultz of Baltic (cross country).

They will be inducted at an awards luncheon at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel Event Center in North Sioux City on Sunday, June 18, at 1 p.m.
