BV football players available to youth teams
Brandon Valley Lynx high school football players are available to run drills or speak to Lynx youth football teams at a practices. Youth football coaches are encouraged to email Lynx assistant coach Matt Christensen at matthew.christensen@k12.sd.us or call/text 351-6234 to schedule player(s) and date(s). 
 
Big Sioux Rec Trail Races
Big Sioux Recreation Area, 410 W. Park St., Brandon, will host its annual Trail Race Series from 8-11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24. The Rec Area lies on the banks on the Big Sioux River and boasts a trail system that’s comprised of two dirt loops – Valley of the Giants Trail and the Prairie Vista Trail – which are connected by a paved trail that runs through the park.
All runners from beginners to veterans are encouraged to participate in the 2- and 4-mile races. There is no fee for the race, but a $6 park entrance fee or state park pass is required. To learn more, contact Nathan Schwab at (605) 582-7243.
 
Step Big for Parkinson’s Annual Walk is Aug. 24
The Step Big for Parkinson’s Annual Walk is Saturday, Aug. 24 at the Canaries Baseball Stadium in Sioux Falls. Doors open at 8 a.m., where participants can sign in and peruse a variety of vendors set up prior to the walk. There will also be activities for kids, music and food. The walk begins at 9 a.m.
Participants can register day of the event or prior to Aug. 24 by visiting southdakotaparkinson.org and clicking on the event page link. Cost is $30 per person and free for children 12 and under. Each participant that pays the $30 fee will receive a t-shirt. 
 
Jake Adams returns to lead baseball camp
Jake Adams, who plays for the Houston Astros AA League team, the Corpus Christi Hooks, will conduct the Jake Adams First Annual Baseball Camp on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Aspen Park in Brandon. The cost is $30 per player and registration can be done by emailing lexihoover12@gmail.com or messaging Lexi Hoover on Facebook. The camp fee is due on the day of camp at check-in.
Adams will lead four, one-hour sessions: 7 & under, 9-10 a.m.; 8-10 year-olds, 10:30-11:30 a.m.; 11-13 year-olds, 12-1 p.m.; 14-17 year-olds, 1:30-2:30 p.m.
There will also be a raffle for a Jake Adams autographed bat. 
Adams grew up in Brandon and played baseball for the Lynx and Post 131 American Legion teams. He played collegiately at Des Moines Area Community College before transferring to the University of Iowa, where he made his mark in the Big 10 as a Hawkeye. Adams was then drafted by the Houston Astros.
