Lynx golfers make strides in O’Gorman dual

The Lynx boys golf team is starting to find its groove. And it’s coming at a good time in the season, according to coach Todd Geerdes.
On a cool Sept. 9 at the Brandon Golf Course, Brandon Valley played a dual against O’Gorman, with just nine strokes separating the two Metro Conference teams. The Knights claimed the win behind the 161-170 score.
“I was proud of the way the Lynx carried themselves on the course against what I would consider the best team in the state,” Geerdes said. “The temp was in the high 40’s, but our golfers ground their way through the round. We were in this match until the very end and I think that will help us realize that if we play well, we can compete with any team in the state. We are making adjustments and starting to find our stride at a good time in the season.”
In the varsity match, the Knights claimed first and second individually. BV’s Emmet Hansen carded a 41 to tie for third place, and Jace Christoffer’s 42 landed him in a tie for fifth. Colby Meyer’s 43 and Austin Reiter’s 44 closed out the team scoring.
The Lynx JV was led by Owen Sanders’ 46, which placed him in a tie for third.
After competing in the Yankton Invite on Saturday and the Brookings Invite on Monday, where the majority of the AA teams competed, Geerdes and company have better idea of how the Lynx stack up against the AA field heading into the season’s final three weeks.
This Friday, BV will compete in the Mitchell Invite at Lakeview. Following that invite are the ESD and Metro conference meets and state
