Brutal winds didn’t deter Mitch Gusso’s golf game, as the Lynx freshman led his team in a dual victory at Yankton’s Fox Run Golf Course on Sept. 19. Gusso opened with a 35 and closed out the back nine with a 43 for the 78-medalist honor.
“It was a really tough day and he played well. He played great on the front nine and held it together on the back,” head coach Scott Carroll said.
Brother Mitch Gusso complimented the team tally with an 81, while junior Jackson Faber carded an 82 and sophomore Jack Lee chipped in an 85 to defeat Yankton 326-335.
Brandon Valley now heads into the biggest two weeks of their season with ESD (Sept. 25) and Metro. (Sept. 26) conference events and the state tournament (Oct. 2-3).
“The boys are hoping for their best rounds of the year at the biggest time. They have the capabilities to play really well,” Carroll said.
BV split victories in JV golf action with the Bucks nipping the Lynx by a stroke, 353-354, and the Lynx bested Yankton, 393-399.
