More than 80 church members of all ages took part in Celebration United Methodist Church’s Faith in Action Sunday, Oct. 29.
“We start the morning with a short service and communion and the challenge to ‘do something,’ and then encourage our congregation to get out of their seats and be the hands and feet of Jesus in service to our community,” said Pastor Joel Higgins.
Congregants cooked, served food and cleaned at both Ronald McDonald houses in Sioux Falls and the St. Francis House. A woodworking team headed by Justin and Jana Loverin made bunk beds for the Lakota Youth Development Camp.
The high school Sunday school class bought supplies and put together personal health kits for the Food 2 You Mobile Food Pantry and made snack packs for kids served by the Night Watch Canteen.
Others sorted and filed books for the REACH Literacy program, made table decorations for Helping Hands Assisted Living Center and restocked the church freezers with meals for people in need.
