Library News: January 2018

Storytimes, Harry Potter escape rooms, a new adult book club and a winter reading program highlight January happenings at the Brandon Community Library. 
Winter Reading Program: Join the Winter Reading Program and earn a prize for bingo through Feb. 28; enter drawing for blackout bingo. Open to all ages.
Preschool Storytime: Tuesdays, Jan. 16, 23 and 30, 10:15-10:45 a.m. Encourage a love of reading and develop your preschooler’s early learning through stories, rhymes, songs and movement. For children ages 3-5.
Toddler Time: Wednesdays, Jan. 10, 17, 24, 31, 10:15-10:40 a.m. Nurture your toddler’s love of books through music, movement and stories, while developing language, motor and social skills. For 2 year olds and caregivers.
Family Storytime: Thursdays, Jan. 11, 18, 25, 7-7:30 p.m. 
Baby Storytime: Monday, Jan. 22, 10:15-10:55 a.m. Help your baby develop listening and language skills with songs, stories and playtime with other families. For 6-24 months and caregivers.
S.T.E.A.M.-N-Thursdays: Thursday, Jan. 11, 3:30-4:15 p.m. Discover science, technology, engineering, art and math through activities. This month’s theme is “Oil and Water Don’t Mix.”
Harry Potter Escape Room (Grades 9-12): Wednesday, Jan. 24, 3:30-8 p.m. In 30 minutes, can you escape detention in Professor Vector’s office? Or will you never be seen again? Registration required. If all slots are taken, contact Monica at 582-2390.
Harry Potter Escape Room (Grades 5-8): Thursday, Jan. 25, 3:30-8 p.m. Registration is required. Call 582-3490.
Healthy Living for Your Brain and Body: Monday, Jan. 22, 6:30-8 p.m. This Alzheimer’s Association class for adults is designed to provide current research and practical information on ways to help age well. Program is not designed for those with Alzheimer’s disease/dementia.
