Letter to the Editor: Brandon Strong: The true spirit of giving

I have lived in Brandon all of my life. I was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Luekemia on July 2, 2021. It has been quite a journey since the diagnosis. Sanford Hospital does not treat this in Sioux Falls and sent me directly to Mayo in Rochester. The last five months, the leukemia has been treated with long stays at Mayo and in Rochester, which has been trying. I have now received a bone marrow transplant from a female in the U.S. In time, I will be able to thank her in person.

Luckily, I have the support of the Brandon community. Thank you to all those that have given me emotional and monetary support. This is really a loving community. Specific thank yous to all the nurses and doctors of Mayo, Be The Match Foundation, Bottom’s Up Pink Ladies, the congregation at Brandon Valley Assembly of God, Brandon neighbors and friends, my daughter’s teachers and friends at Brandon Valley High School who have given her emotional support. This is really the true spirit of giving this holiday season and a big thank you to all! Brandon Strong!
