Lady Lynx stage late-game rallies to overcome Watertown twice

Lynx short stop Coral Gonseth makes a play from her knees, as she throws a Watertown batter out at first in the first of two victories over the visiting Arrows.
With their backs against the wall, trailing by four runs and two outs on the board, the Lady Lynx initiated a comeback rally in the bottom of the fourth to defeat Watertown 6-5 Aug. 27 at Aspen Park in Brandon.

“My hair keeps getting grayer,” said Lynx head coach Corey Christensen.

With the time limit looming and down 5-4 in the bottom of the fourth, Adrian Schoby connected for a single to drive in runs four and five, propelling BV to the victory. Schoby turned in a 2-for-3 performance to lead her team to victory.

Watertown had its own productive fourth inning, putting up four runs. The Arrows’ big bats were led by L. Pressler, A. Huguert, M. Lundgaard and Hannah, who driving in runs in the inning.

Watertown matched BV’s one-run lead in the top of third when A. Stark singled, scoring a run.

Alika Csordacsics was credited with the victory. In her four innings in the circle, Csordacsics allowed six hits and five runs. She struck out five Watertown batters.

B. Granau took the loss for Watertown. She surrendered six runs on eight hits over 3 2/3 innings, striking out three BV batters.

“The girls did a nice job – even on a night when things in the softball world aren’t going your way, we continued to grind away with the bats and kept ourselves in position to win at the end,” Christensen said. “As coaches, we need to do a better job of coaching them and getting them ready to play and making sure we’re putting them in the best positions to succeed.”
