Lady Lynx go 2-3 on the week

Brandon Valley took a solid lead and never let up to drive home a 7-1 victory over the Gazelles Aug. 29 at Yankton. 

BV started out strong with a double by Mya Bunker and a single by Emily Moschell in the first inning, followed by Andrea Cain’s triple and Grace Bowar’s single in the second.

The Lady Lynx didn’t score more than two runs in an inning, but they hit and drove in runs with consistency throughout the game to pull off the victory.

Bunker earned the win for BV. She pitched seven innings, allowing one run and four hits. She struck out two. 

The Lynx collected 10 hits, with Brooke Heinen and Bowar delivering two apiece.

BV 10, SFL 6

BV jumped out to an early lead over the Lincoln Patriots for a 10-6 victory Aug. 28 at Aspen Park. 

The Lady Lynx scored on an error in the first inning to claim the early lead. BV went on to collect nine hits, led by Cain, who went 3-for-4 at the plate. Bunker had three RBIs. 

In six innings, she threw 15 first-pitch strikes, surrendering six runs and three hits. Bunker struck out two and walked one Lincoln batter. 

BV didn’t fare as well in the first game of the Aug. 28 doubleheader. Despite a four-run deficit in the fourth, the Lynx threatened the Pats, but came out on the downside of the 5-4 game. 

Lincoln took an early lead in the first inning. The Lynx evened the score in the bottom half of the inning when Bunker doubled to drive in a run. 

In the fourth inning, Tessa VanDenTop smacked a home run with two on base, putting three runs on the scoreboard for BV to post a solid lead until the Patriots doubled in the fourth. 

BV pitcher Jeniah Johnson tossed four innings, allowing five runs, two hits, and striking out four.

Bunker, Cain, Bowar, VanDenTop and Jackie Bingham each had one hit for the Lynx.

Brandon Valley hosts Watertown at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14 at Aspen Park.
