Coming off a 10-day break, the Lady Lynx faced eighth-ranked Marshall, Minn., at the Borch’s Holiday Classic on Monday in Marshall.
The Tigers overcame the Lynx in the second half by utilizing a smothering effort on the full-court press, forcing Brandon Valley into 29 turnovers en route to claiming the 67-53 victory.
Despite the game’s outcome, the Lynx were dialed in offensively in the first half. BV went on an 11-0 scoring run in the second to lead Marshall 22-18 after a quarter of play.
The Tigers out-scored the Lynx 17-6 in the second quarter to take the 35-28 lead into the break.
Marshall pushed their lead to double digits in the third quarter to make it a 41-31 game. BV next scored five unanswered points to cut the deficit to six, but that would be the closest the Lynx would get to the Tigers the rest of the game. BV put up nine points in the fourth, while Marshall prevailed by netting 15 points in the stanza.
The tigers shot 58 percent from the field and BV hit 47 percent of its field goal attempts.
BV travels to Mitchell Friday for a 7 p.m. game against the Kernels and return to the home court Jan. 10, when the Brookings Bobcats pay a visit.
