John A. Hanson, 70

John Allen Hanson, 70, of Brandon, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2022.  

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31 at Heritage Funeral Home, with a luncheon to follow. Visitation starts at 9 a.m. Inurnment will take place this spring.

He was born April 18, 1952 in Volga, SD to Selma and Allen Hanson. 

John was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer on December 16, 2021 and began chemotherapy treatment the next day. He received chemotherapy twice, two rounds of radiation treatments and immunotherapy treatments before succumbing to cancer.  

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen of Brandon; son, Paul (Stephanie) Hanson, of Jacksonville, Fla.; son, Chad Hanson of Brandon; and daughter, Rebecca (Brian) Caldwell of Auburndale, Wis.; grandson, Connor Caldwell of Auburndale; sister, Dorothy Trumm of Sioux Falls; sister-in-law, Mary Bohn (Harlan) of Twin Brooks; five nephews and nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends.
