Jeanette Vosburg, 95

Jeanette Vosburg, 95

Jeanette Vosburg, 95, of Valley Springs, S.D., passed away Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2020, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020 at Faith United Church in Brandon. Memorials may be directed to the Heart Hero’s or Children’s Hospital in honor of Jeanette’s great-grandson, Oliver Finnesand.

Jeanette VanderWerf, daughter of Chris and Alice (Zuiderhoff) VanderWerf was born March 10, 1924 in Colton, S.D. She graduated from Colton High School with the class of 1942. She was united in marriage to Clair Vosburg on March 12, 1948. She took up piano at a young age and played her whole life. They moved the family to Valley Springs where they resided most of their married lives.  They were longtime members of First Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Falls. A few years after Clair’s passing in 2003, she became a member of Faith United Church in Brandon.

Her spare time was never left idle. She always loved keeping a garden, raising chickens, and always had the coffee on. Jeanette and Clair farmed for over 30 years, living in Gitchie Manitou, Granite, Larchwood, Montrose, and Willow Run Golf Course.

She was very civic minded and enjoyed belonging to the Valley Springs American Legion Auxiliary, Senior Citizens, and Golden Hour Society. She enjoyed new dresses, getting her hair done on Fridays, and never left the house without being primp and proper. Her time living as a resident at Good Samaritan Village was very fulfilling and she hardly ever missed the activities there including volleyball. Playing Uno (that she pronounced YOUno) with the grandchildren was fun. Any time spent with family was cherished and she will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Roger Vosburg of Valley Springs, and Duane (Kathy) Vosburg of Chesterfield, Mich.; three daughters, Karen (Matt) Moeller of Wessington, Cindy (Mike) Dellman of Valley Springs, and Lori (Paul) Kucera of Wagner; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Albert VanderWerf of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Donald (Norma) VanderWerf of Plano, Texas; sister, Gertrude DeJongh of Edgerton, Minn.; half-brother, Roger (Maria) VanderWerf of Wyoming, Mich.; step-brother, Roy (Judy) Vander Meulen of Sioux Falls; sister-in-law, Jo VanderWerf; and step sister-in-law, Donna Vander Meulen of Ripon, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Chris and Alice; husband, Clair; step-mom, Minnie; brothers, George and Bill; sister, Jessie Burgers; and step-brother, Larry Vander Meulen.
