James "Jim" Andersen, 70

James "Jim" Everette Andersen, 70 of Valley Springs, died Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls. Visitation with family present will be held from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug.2, 2022 at George Boom Funeral Chapel, Brandon, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2022 at Spirit of Truth Lutheran Church, Brandon.

Jim was born on Nov. 28, 1951 the son of Everette and Dorice (Peterson) Andersen in Sioux Falls. He was baptized and confirmed at Beaver Valley Lutheran Church. Jim attended grade school and middle school in Valley Springs. In 1970, Jim graduated from Brandon Valley High School and then attended South Dakota State University for one year. On Dec. 26, 1970, Jim was united in marriage to Jane Robinson at Brandon Lutheran Church. They made their home in rural Valley Springs. He then had the opportunity to farm and continued until the time of his death. Jim was so blessed because he truly loved his job, something few people can say.

Jim served on the Red Rock Township Board. He loved photography and the proof was over 1,000 photos stored on his phone. Jim was an active member of Spirit of Truth Lutheran Church, where he served as deacon, a prayer team member and was active in Bible studies. His faith spread outside the church as he shared his faith with so many. He always read the Christmas Story before gifts were opened on Christmas Eve and table grace was always led by Jim. He truly loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and inspired so many people.

Jim cherished his family and friends beyond belief. He will always be remembered for his kind and gentle spirit. He loved fishing with his sons, grandsons and special fishing buddy, Ron. Jim was eagerly anticipating the day he could take his great-grandsons fishing. He enjoyed following his children in their sports of football, wrestling, gymnastics, softball and attending band and piano concerts. The grandchildren were closely watched, whether it was orchestra concerts, hockey, baseball, football, soccer, gymnastics or horse shows. He was so proud of each and every one of them.

Though a stroke took our beloved husband, father, papa, great-papa, brother, uncle, cousin and friend much too early, we know he’s with Jesus. We’ll miss you forever. Rest in His peace, Jim.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Jane Andersen; daughters, Jami Andersen , Jennifer (Brian) Quick, Andee (Wade) Year; sons, Nick Andersen, Tyler (Kelly) Andersen; very special friends, Bobbie and Chris Safar; 10 grandchildren, Taylor and Aaron, Tessa and Jordyn, Kennedy, Brynn, Sophia, Dane, Charlie, Harper, Claudia and Dominic; two great-grandsons, William and Haidyn; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lee and Cindy Robinson; sisters, Janet (Merl) Breen, Karen (John) Wengert, Barb (Gary) Nelson; brothers, John (Linda) Andersen, Denis (Janet) Andersen; many nieces, nephews, farming partners, best friends, Arny Erickson and Kay Burkhart.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister, Beverly.
