Jake Alan Dieters was born on Jan. 4, 2014, to Mark and Carrie Dieters. His childhood was spent visiting the farm with his parents, his sisters, Carlee Jae (5) and Brooke Ann (2) and his dog, Jade.
His greatest joy was his family and making memories with them. He spent most of his free time with dad, helping on the farm, working on trucks, and riding his four-wheeler. He enjoyed helping his mom bake. (He particularly liked to eat all the goodies.) And he took great pride in being a big brother. He loved to play with his sisters. He also enjoyed fishing and anything to do with superheroes, especially Iron Man.
He had a natural gift for farming, a passion for trucking and a love for driving. Jake drove the tractor on his own for the first time earlier this summer while raking hay with dad. We’re not sure who was prouder – dad or Jake!
Jake lived with cancer for 3 ½ years. He was first diagnosed with Wilm’s tumor, a type of kidney cancer in children, in May of 2018. By November, he was in remission. Cancer returned in May of 2019 and again in December of 2020. Each time, he approached his treatments with strength and determination. He would play board games and talk with other children to pass the time during his dialysis and chemo treatments.
Jake lived his life with grace. He was kind, loving and always quick to smile. His family is heartbroken knowing he is no longer with us. Yet, we are comforted knowing he is no longer in pain. We know he is farming in heaven with his Grandpa Dennis, his cousin Benny, and his dog Jade by his side.
Thankful for having shared his life are his parents, Mark and Carrie Dieters; his sisters, Carlee Jae and Brooke Ann; his grandparents, George and Lori Dieters and Pam Van Sloten; his aunts, uncles, and cousins; Matt, Kiley and Ella Van Sloten; Curt and Della Van Sloten; Hannah, Hayden, Emily and Harrison; Mindy and Loren Halma; Patrick and Bailee; Ty and Kari Dieters; Tez, Everett, Chase and Baylee; Jeff Dieters; and many more extended family and friends.
He is proceeded in death by his Grandpa, Dennis Van Sloten and his cousin, Benjamin Dieters.
