Coach Mark Stadem hopes Friday’s 46-39 road loss to Aberdeen Central is something the team can learn from and grow as a team from.
Uncharacteristic of their previous three outings in the yet young season, the Golden Eagles took the Lady Lynx out of their game by doing a few things. First, Stadem said Aberdeen did a good job of dictating the pace of the game.
Secondly, he said the Lady Lynx need to do a better job dictating their style of play.
“We just didn’t do a very good job of moving the ball on offense and crawling up into them with our ball pressure on the defensive end of the floor,” he said.
BV held a 10-7 advantage over their hosts after a quarter of play, but it was the Golden Eagles who prevailed at the next three quarter stops, first a 19-17 lead at the half, and then two seven-point spreads, 30-23 after three and the 46-39 end result.
Danica Kocer popped in 13 points to lead the Lynx scoring. Ashley Wells and Sam Taylor tossed in nine and eight points, respectively. Lexi Ellingson accounted for six.
The Lynx had the advantage on the boards, 28-22. Ashley Wells hauled in 10 and Kocer had four.
Trinity Law offered a pair of assists and steals.
As a team, the Lynx accumulated three assists, four steals and 19 turnovers. Aberdeen had two assists, eight steals and 17 turnovers.
