Gloria Ochsner, 72

Gloria Ochsner, 72, of Brandon, S.D., passed away on Friday, March 18, 2022, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls. Memorial services will begin at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Brandon Lutheran Church in Brandon. Visitation with family present will be 4 to 6 p.m., Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at George Boom Funeral Chapel in Brandon. Memorials may be directed to Brandon Lutheran Church. An online guestbook and link to view the service will be available at www.georgeboom.com

Gloria Jean Baule was born on April 21, 1949 at Webster, S.D., and grew up on a farm near Andover. She graduated from Pierpont High School, attended Northern University, and graduated from South Dakota State University. In 1968 she married David Ochsner and they resided in Brookings for seven years. They then moved to Brandon, where Gloria taught in the Brandon Valley School District for 20 years. She loved music and had a natural talent for the piano. She gave piano lessons, accompanied student vocal and instrumental solos and high school musicals such as “Oklahoma”. As a member of Brandon Lutheran Church, Gloria was a frequent organist and musician for countless weddings, funerals and soloists. Wherever she lived she made use of her talent. She also enjoyed quilting, cooking, and decorating. She had a passion for babies, doll collecting, and Swarovski crystals.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, David, of Brandon; her two sons, Christopher (Deborah) of Longview, Wash., and Cameron (Amy) of Madison, Wis.; and one granddaughter, Lilliana Ochsner of Holmen, Wis.. She is also survived by one sister, Sandra Payne of Aberdeen, S.D., and three brothers, Claire Baule of Minnetonka, Minn., David Baule and Gary (Patty) Baule, all of Andover, SD. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Amy; and sister-in-law, Linda Baule.
