Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2022, at George Boom Funeral Chapel, Brandon.

Glenn Michael Scott was born on July 8, 1932, to George “Marion” and Jennie Scott. Mike grew up south of Valley Springs and spent his life in the Valley Springs area. He attended school at Sunnyside School, just south of the family farm until grade 8. Mike then attended high school at Valley Springs, graduating in 1951. Mike was drafted by the United States Army in 1953 during the Korean War where he served until his honorable discharge in 1955.

Mike married Pauline Shabino on Dec. 8, 1956, in Luverne, Minn. Together they had six children: Perry, Paul, Penny, Mary, Gary, and Keith. Mike’s life on the farm taught him the value of hard work. Throughout his life, Mike worked for the railroad in Valley Springs, at Lakeside Dairy in Sioux Falls, in the construction industry in Sioux Falls, and at McKennan Hospital, where he worked for 10 years until his retirement. After retiring, Mike continued working part-time in the automotive industry with his daughter-in-law, Brenda.

Mike loved playing softball and was a great pitcher. He was on a bowling league for several years, and he loved putzing around on the family homestead as a hobby farmer. Mike was dearly loved by his children, grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.

Grateful for sharing his life are his wife, Pauline Scott; his children, Perry Scott, Paul (Brenda) Scott, Penny Scott, Mary (Jerry) Erickson, Gary (Michelle) Scott, and Keith Scott; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; sister, Linda Sharratt; sister-in-law, Vivian Scott; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, George and Jennie; four brothers, Jerry, Pete, Gordon, and John; five sisters, Mary, Wanda, June, Jane, and Ann; grandson, Jason Scott; and great-granddaughter, Lily Warsing.
