A Brandon man has pled not guilty to allegedly altering a city water report last summer and is set to stand trial July 6.

Kris Gagnon was charged with two counts of forgery in February for altering the radium level of well water in an official city of Brandon water report and posting a picture of the altered report on the Facebook page The City of Brandon, SD The Dirt.

The altered report showed the radium level in the city’s drinking water to exceed the maximum contaminant level.

According to the South Dakota Attorney General’s Office, Gagnon entered a written “not guilty” plea in Minnehaha County Court last week. The written plea was entered in keeping with the desire to limit in-person court appearances due to COVID-19 concerns.

Court dates are contingent on ongoing developments with the coronavirus pandemic and are subject to change.
