Char Granberg believes in giving the gift of life through blood donations.

But for the personal banker at First National Bank in Brandon, taking time out of her day to drive to the bank’s main office in Sioux Falls to give blood at the bank-hosted blood drive, was an inconvenience.

But next month, Granberg can donate blood in Brandon, as the local bank branch will host a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15.

This will be the first time the bank is hosting the Community Blood Bank Blood Mobile in its parking lot. Donors can sign up by calling the Brandon Branch at (605) 782-5960.

“The employees at the Brandon Branch are excited to bring this opportunity to the Brandon community and encourage anyone that is interested to come donate blood,” said branch manager Val Lemkau.

Donors must meet the following criteria to give blood:

• Must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with a signed parent/legal guardian consent form; visit cbblifeblood.org to download form) and weigh at least 110 pounds.

• Be in general good health. Donors cannot have a cold, fever, flu or sore throat.

• Donors should eat a good meal prior to giving blood and drink plenty of water.
