Early Saturday morning crash claims life of two
Two people from Sioux Falls are dead following a two-vehicle crash early Saturday morning, and two others were injured in the accident.
According to reports from the South Dakota Highway Patrol, around 2 a.m. July 1, a 2002 Chevrolet CWSI pickup truck and a 1998 Subaru Forester collided on Interstate 90, near mile marker 406, which is about a mile west of Brandon. Both vehicles rolled into the north ditch.
Anna Mason, 38, and Shannon Fischer, 44, both of Sioux Falls, were not wearing their seat belts and were ejected from the vehicle. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Pickup driver, Joshua Vortherms, 39, of Adrian, Minn., was also not wearing a seat belt and received life-threatening injuries. Charges are pending against Vortherms.
An 11-year-old female, a passenger in the Subaru, received non-life threatening injuries.
