Dr. Dayton “Doc” Williams, 62, of Brandon, passed away peacefully from ALS on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at Ava’s House in Sioux Falls, S.D. Funeral services will be held Thursday March 30 at 10:30 a.m. at NewDay Church, 27365 472nd Ave, Harrisburg, S.D. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. Wednesday March 29, also at New Day. A private burial will be held later this spring. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donation to Life 96.5 or NewDay Church be considered. Dayton was born on July 16, 1960 to Dalton and Carol (Vickmark) Williams in Madison S.D. He was raised on multiple farms in the Madison/Ramona area. He was known for his ‘Ramona Zoo’, which included his three-legged deer, many species of birds and any other injured animal that would venture into their yard.

Dayton graduated from Ramona High School in 1978 and from Dakota State College in 1982. In 1986, he graduated from Iowa State University with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Williams was the veterinarian of the Great Plains Zoo for 25 years. He founded All Animal Pet Hospital where he cared for many animals from Airedales to Zebra finches for 33 years.

Dayton was united in marriage to Tracy Lage on Sept. 19, 1998. The couple resided together on an acreage in rural Sioux Falls and then recently moved to Brandon.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Tracy; daughter, Karri Sehr and her husband, Seth, and their children, Theron, Teegan, and Tayber, of Valley Springs; sons, Trayton and Dalton, both of Brandon; step-daughter, Nicole Rath and her husband, Steve, and their children, Christian, Preston and Justin, of Britton, S.D.; brother, Derek and his wife, Jeannie, of Wentworth, S.D., and their children, Zach, his wife Camie, and their daughter, Fable, Nathan and his wife, Jenna; father-in-law, Richard Lage of Wentworth; brothers-in-law, Jim (Amy) Shafer of Madison, S.D., and Troy (Shauna) Lage of Sioux Falls; sister-in-law, Kim Lage of Ramona; and a host of numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dalton and Carol (Vickmark) Williams; and mother-in-law, Brenda Lage.
