Donald E. Eitreim, 83

Donald E. Eitreim, 83, of Brandon, S.D. passed away Friday, July 5, 2019 at Bethesda of Beresford in Beresford, SD. His funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 9 at Brandon Lutheran Church, with burial at Brandon Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation begins at 5 p.m. Monday, July 8 at George Boom Funeral Home and Crematory in Sioux Falls, where the family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

Donald Edmund Eitreim, son of Edmund and Frances (McGee) Eitreim, was born Feb. 1, 1936 in Rapid City, S.D. 

Don was united in marriage with Susan Iverson on Aug. 26, 1954. The couple made their home east of Sioux Falls and were blessed with four sons, Randy, Jeff, Loren and Jon.

Don was united in marriage to Marlene Lorentzen on March 10, 1990. They made their home in Brandon. Don worked at American Freight Systems as dock foreman for many years. He also worked at Scheels, Velocity, and Dennex.

Don had a talent for building and fixing things. He wasn’t afraid to conquer any task or problem. He was happy to pass that wisdom on to his children and grandchildren. Don enjoyed spending time with his family. The annual Father’s Day golf outing with his sons and grandchildren was something he looked forward to each year. Golf was one of his favorite activities. He was in a golf league in Garretson for many years. Don and Marlene had a cabin on Lake Madison where they enjoyed boating, skiing and hosting family and friends. They had fun going to various events for their grandchildren in South Dakota and Indiana.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Marlene; three sons, Randy Eitreim, Sioux Falls, S.D., Jeff Eitreim and his wife, Pam, Brandon, S.D., Loren Eitreim, Sioux Falls, S.D.; two step-daughters, Julie Ann Ross, La Porte, Ind., Janelle Robinson and her husband, Jeff, La Porte, Ind.; nine grandchildren, Ben Eitreim, Tom Eitreim and his fiancée, Kami Cleveland, Danny Eitreim, Samantha Eitreim, Traci Eitreim, Jared Ross, Joey Ross and his wife, Emma, Jillian Ross, Kaylin Piotraschke; a special family friend, Pam Evenson; and many other relatives and friends. 

Don was preceded in death by a son, Jon Eitreim; his parents, Edmund Eitreim and Frances Kimball; a brother, LeRoy Eitreim; and a son-in-law, Joe Ross.
