Dale Hieb, 64

Dale Paul Hieb was born on April 25, 1956 to Robert J. and Violet L. (Gehring) Hieb at Parkston, S.D. 
 
Dale grew up and attended school in Elk Point, S.D., graduating from Elk Point High School. He then attended the University of South Dakota earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
 
Following college, Dale taught in Mullen, Neb., Hawarden, Iowa, and then Dell Rapids, S.D. He then went to work at Gateway, and also Daktronics as a machine operator.
 
Dale enjoyed reading, running, especially marathons, coaching Alex’s basketball and baseball teams, refereeing basketball, and loved traveling on family vacations. He was very involved with Heritage Lutheran Church, where he was a member. Dale taught Sunday school and was very involved with the youth ministry. He loved listening to rock music and cheering on his Vikings and Twins, as an avid and loyal fan.
 
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Cathy; son, Alex of Brandon; step-son, Christopher (Amber) Breuer, and one grandson, Sully, of Sioux Falls, S.D.; siblings, Joyce (Gary) Bortscheller of South Sioux City, Neb., Mike (Val) Hieb of Brandon, Gary (Patti) Hieb of St. Louis, Mo., Curt (Diana) Hieb of Lenexa, Kan., Rose (Reggie) Robertson of Shawnee, Kan.; and many nieces and nephews. 
 
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Violet Hieb.
