Climb for a Cause
Anytime Fitness invites members and non-members to the second annual “Climb for a Cause” Sept. 7-11. The event is intended to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice by making a $5 donation for every 15 minutes on the stair climber (any donation accepted). All proceeds will be given to the Brandon Fire Department.
Interesting fact: The World Trade Center had 110 stories in each tower. That’s 1,980 steps. The North Tower was 1,368 feet high, while the South Tower was 1,362 feet high. Fifty-thousand people worked in the Twin Towers daily, which is four times the size of the town of Brandon. Sadly, 343 firefighters died on Sept. 11. Now, thousands of firefighters climb steps every year on this day to pay tribute to their lives.
Stop by Anytime Fitness or call 582-4104 in advance to claim a time slot on the stair climber Sept.7-11.

Marla Meyer is Sept. 22 ‘On the Menu’ guest speaker
Brandon resident and CEO of Girl Scouts-Dakota Horizons Marla Meyer will be the featured speaker at the Sept. 22 On the Menu event. On the Menu is an endeavor of the Brandon Valley Area Chamber of Commerce; both members and the public are invited to attend.
Meyer’s topic is “A Path to Credibility (with a lot of miles)!
A strong supporter of leadership development for women and girls, Meyer has been the CEO of Girl Scouts-Dakota Horizons since October 2016. Her love of iconic brands (like Girl Scouts) led her to work for more than 20 years for Coca-Cola and Pepsi, at the forefront of sales, marketing and service leadership across the United States and Canada. Her diversified experience, combined with her genuine desire to get to know people authentically, provides unique insight to leadership success.
Meyer holds an MBA in marketing from the Craig School of Business, California State University and a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing and management from Minnesota State University. Her biggest accomplishment, however, is being a mom to twins, Max and Madi.
On the menu is from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Tailgator’s, 1013 N. Splitrock Blvd. To register, email admin@brandonvalleychamber.com or call the Chamber at 582-7400. There is cost of $10, which includes lunch.
