Brandon Valley is one of 45 South Dakota high schools that competed in the 63rd Annual State High School One-Act Play Festival Jan. 31-Feb. 2 in Aberdeen.
BVHS earned a Superior Play award for its production of “Almost, Maine,” and all 13 scene actors received Superior Actor awards: Ross Oren, Izzy Stone, Ethan McEachran, Issy Dewitt, Kayden Hoeke, Emily Hensley, Grace Lamberty, Miles Hemelstrand, Ellen Joseph, Grace Wilford, Jimmy Hoffman, Grant Gunderson and Olivia Kern.
Brandon Valley also earned Superior Ensemble Cast for Garrett Lien, Abbey Jacobsen, Angel Betanzo, Hannah Frost, Maryn Duncanson, Emily Moschell, Ethan Wright, Tucker Trout, Jordyn Christensen, Abby Christensen and Kaylie Moody.
“I am especially proud of how well the cast works together.  They each had their own scene, but they supported the other scenes as well,” said director Melanie Sittig. “Even though the show is set up as vignettes, the ensemble worked together to seamlessly convey a community feel.”
Last year, BV’s production of “Peter and the Star-Catcher” earned Superior Play, Superior Ensemble Cast and seven Superior Actor awards.
