BVDT dances to top of Watertown Invite

The Lady Lynx competitive dance team took grand champion at their first contest of the fall, the Watertown Invitational, last week.
But the victory was even better, said Lynx dance coach Tracy Kuhn, because the team was precise in their routines, especially at this early point of their 2019 season.
Brandon Valley collected 264.83 points – the highest overall score in jazz, pom and hip hop – to come out on top of 13 high school dance teams competing at the Sept. 3 invite.
“Our routines are progressing better than expected and the dancers are motivated to do great things this season,” Kuhn said.
The Lady Lynx took first in jazz with 251 points and first in pom with 295.5 points. In the program’s first outing in the hip hop division, BV captured third, with 248 points.
The dancers were excited to take third in their hip hop debut, Kuhn said.
“We have a lot of work to do with this routine, as it is highly advanced in both tempo and skill level,” she added.
Second overall went to Sioux Falls Washington, with 259.17 points, followed by Sioux Falls Roosevelt in third at 248.17 points.
The Lady Lynx compete Thursday at Yankton.
