BV takes 3 duals on Vermillion mats

A trio of Brandon Valley wrestlers shouldered two of their three opponents Dec. 7 at a Vermillion-hosted quadrangular. As a team, the Lynx took advantage of a variety of forfeits to claim victory in all three duals against the host Tanagers, Yankton and Dakota Valley.

“It was good to come out of this competition undefeated as a team,” said BV head coach Derek Outland. 

Jack Smith (132 pounds), Kobi Terpsrra (138) and Damion Schunke (152) all recorded a pair of pins on the Vermillion mat. Smith handled Vermillion’s Rayne Whisler and Dakota Valley’s Henry Linden.

Terpstra’s two-pin night came against Mason Schroeder of Vermillion in 4 minutes flat, and Dakota Valley’s Robert Streeter in an even 2 minutes.

Schunke pinned Tyson Hage of Vermillion at the 1-minute, 31-second mark, and made quick work of Dakota Valley’s Dylan Madden.

The Lynx take to the mats next at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at the Warrior Invite, which is hosted by Sioux Falls Washington. The team wrestles on the home mats Dec. 21, when the wrestlers from Worthington, Minn., pay a visit to Brandon.
