Brandon Valley fell to the Aberdeen Golden Eagles 5-0 in boys’ soccer action on Sept. 8.
Two key injuries played a part in the Lynx’s performance against Aberdeen, perhaps the top boys soccer team in the state, according to BV head coach Chris Limmer. Lynx goalkeeper Sedric Barton and senior captain Micah Van Hemert both sat out due to injures sustained in the Roosevelt game.
Aberdeen scored two early goals when the Lynx couldn’t clear the ball in front of the goal. The first was five minutes into the first half, and the other was 11 minutes into the half. The home team scored another before halftime to put the Lynx down by three goals at the break.
The Golden Eagles continued the scoring in the fourth minute of the second half and added another with 23 minutes remaining.
Aberdeen showed outshot the Lynx 24-3 throughout the game. Jacob Johnson, filling in for Barton, recorded eight saves on the day.

The game started pretty even, with both teams recording six shots in the first half, but Roosevelt found the back of the net with 10 minutes to go for the only goal of the half.
The Rough Riders continued to dominate the game in the second half by stepping up the pressure and possessing the ball more. They were able to take 17 shots to the Lynx’s three in the second half. Sixteen minutes in, the Rough Riders added their second goal of the contest.
The Lynx continued to fight for a goal late in the game, but the visitors found some space behind the Lynx defense and scored the last goal of the game with four minutes remaining.
The Lynx host Watertown on Thursday at McHardy Park, starting at 5:30 p.m.
