BV loses five-set Brookings match

Saturday’s five-game volleyball match pitted two evenly-matched teams against one another and in the end, Brookings pulled off the 3-2 win over the visiting Brandon Valley Lynx.
The Lynx took games one and three, 25-17, 25-23, while games two, four and five went the way of the Bobcats, 22-25, 21-25, 15-12.
For BV, Avery Myers put up 37 set assists. Paige Timmons fired 16 kills and Megan Stettnichs had 10. 
The backrow play was led by Ella Simonson and Anna Reinschmidt, who had 27 and 10 digs, respectively. Brooke Lunstra delivered a pair of ace serves and Jada Tschetter had four blocks to her credit.
For Brookings, Grace Eggebrecht led the net attack with 19 kills; Anni Johnson and Michaela Jewett both had 13. Jewett also had 51 set assists.
Miranda Ysbrand recorded 25 digs in the win and Jewett had a dozen. Kailee Bartels had a hand on three blocks, while Emma Hardi and Jewett each had a trio of ace serves.
The Lady Lynx (2-16) close out their regular season schedule with two matches next week, first hosting the Pierre Governors at 6 p.m. on Halloween night and next traveling to Sioux Falls Lincoln for a 7 p.m. match on Nov. 2.
