BV dance steps it up for state Oct. 21

The Lady Lynx competitive dance team deftly secured its sixth consecutive ESD title Oct. 12 in Huron.
The conference win is a much-needed boost as the Lynx head into the state championships Oct. 21 in Rapid City.
BV’s dance team, which took second in Class AA last season, finished first in kick and jazz and second in pom to win last Thursday’s ESD Conference and place second in the Metro on Oct. 9.
Coach Tracy Kuhn said her team has been preparing for the ESD win all season and had a goal of continuing their winning tradition in the league.
“The team worked hard in the weeks prior to clean their choreography with minor errors,” Kuhn said. “BVDT brought their score up around 20 points from their Metro to ESD conference competitions. That is a huge bump up and will make a difference moving into the state competition.”
BV’s kick and jazz routines are on point just in time for state, and pom is getting close, Kuhn added.
“We will be focusing on this routine a lot over the next week, as it will be our key to placing in the top three for all routine divisions next weekend,” she said.
“I couldn’t be prouder of the way this team has come together over the past few weeks and am looking forward to seeing their hard work come alive at their state event,” Kuhn said.
