The Brandon Valley Lynx walked away from their face-off against Washington Aug. 25, resulting in a 0-0 tie.
Several othr aspects of the game were even as well, Coach Chris Limmer said.
The Lynx took eight shots throughout the match; Washington took seven. BV had six of their shots on goal, to Washington’s four.
“We knew it was going to be a physical game,” Limmer said.
That turned out to be true, with Washington earning 12 fouls, to BV’s nine. Three of of the Warrior’s fouls were yellow cards.
“I think we were a little bit more dangerous throughout the game than they were,” Limmer said. “Our shots were more accurate and I felt our scoring chances were a little bit better than theirs. Our goalkeeper only had to make two saves, to their four.
Perhaps the  best scoring chance for either team was during the first half when Lynx forward Wyatt Haas got the ball and dribbled across the top of the box and took a very hard shot on goal. It went right to the Warriors’ goalkeeper.
“They had to foul us more because we were being more dangerous on the attack at times,” said Limmer, noting that one of Washington’s yellow cards came because a defender stopped a promising BV attack by taking down Haas, who got behind their defense with a strong run with the ball outside the penalty area on the right side of the field.
“Overall, it was a pretty good matchup,” Limmer said. “While we wanted to win the game, we were pleased to stay unbeaten for our first away game of the season, while not giving up a goal during the game.”
The Lynx boys’ soccer team travels to Brookings on Saturday and hosts Roosevelt at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 5 at McHardy Park in Brandon.
