New Perkins restaurant, bakery opens in east Sioux Falls
The new Perkins Restaurant & Bakery on the east side of Sioux Falls in front of Menards opened Dec. 7.
Owned and operated by CyHawk Hospitality, Inc., the new location will be open 5:30 a.m.-11 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and overnight on Friday and Saturday. In addition to serving Sioux Falls, it will also serve outlying areas such as Brandon, Luverne, Rowena, Valley Springs, Manley, Beaver Creek, Larchwood, Harrisburg, Rock Rapids, Inwood, Rock Valley, Worthington, Edgerton, and Corson
Approximately 85 full- and part time employees have been hired. Delivery will be available through Food Dudes.
When asked about the key to their success over the past decade, CyHawk Hospitality President Jim Rahfaldt said, “The answer is easy - it’s the Perkins brand, the customers, the employees, the entire organization from top to bottom!”
Rahfaldt’s sons, Matt and Nick elaborate citing the strong appeal of Perkins food, multiple dayparts and bakery point of difference; the newly designed and inviting facilities; outstanding and committed team members who share an enthusiasm for growth; and strong relationships with the communities, vendors and landlords with whom they do business, as key contributing factors.

Racing to return to area
The I-90 Speedway near Hartford will open next year under new management, which was announced last week on the Speedway’s Facebook page. The season will open in early May and wrap up in early September.
Lyle and Dawn Howey own the track and Rod Pattison has been secured as the track’s general manager. The team also includes Dale Furby (track competition director), Terry Kjergaard (media relations) and Shawn Neisteadt (track announcer/social media).
Details of the race season schedule, rules and more were announced at a Dec. 11 news conference.
The track ceased operation in 2015 after Chuck Brennan purchased Badlands Motor Speedway from the Rubin family. The Howeys joined Badlands staff the next year. Brennan closed down the track in 2017, which is south of Brandon. He has stated he will tear down the track if it doesn’t sell by Dec. 28.
