Victory was in the cards for the Lynx boys’ golfers on Aug. 29. The team bested Sioux Falls Lincoln by two strokes, 145-147, and were 12 better than O’Gorman’s 157, to win the triangular played at Elmwood Golf Course.

“The Lynx had a great day on the course,” head coach Scott Carroll said.

A trio of Lynx – Jackson Faber, Mitch Gusso and Matt Gusso - carded even par 35s. Austin Swenson’s 40 completed the team tally.

Lincoln’s Max Honner won medalist honors, shooting a 34.

“I was very proud of the way the top three played today,” Carroll said. “They all came in with the mindset that they have to score, and that attitude got the Lynx a win. Today they put it together and hopefully started something” as the team ramps up their invitational-heavy schedule. “I know they have what it takes to compete. We just need some of our core guys to shoot the scores they are capable of shooting and we will be right there.”

The Lynx compete Friday at the Yankton Invitational and head to the Brookings Invitational on Sept. 11.
