Beverly May Blue, 70

Beverly “Bev” Blue, 70, Sioux Falls, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2018 at the Sanford USD Medical Center after a brave fight with cancer.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018, at Heartland Funeral Home, with a sharing time at 7 p.m. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, Aug. 7, 2018, at First Presbyterian Church, Sioux Falls. 

At Bev’s request of “No Flowers”, a memorial has been established.

Beverly “Bev” May Nytroe was born Aug. 8, 1948, in Sioux Falls to Kermit and Elaine (Peterson) Nytroe. She was raised in Crooks and Brandon, and graduated from Brandon Valley High School in 1967. She then attended the National College of Business in Rapid City. Bev met Richard Blue III downtown on the loop in 1969. They were married on Nov. 12, 1971, and resided in Sioux Falls. Bev and Richard had two boys, Rick IV and Jeremy.

Bev worked at the Elks Lodge for several years and later worked for Kelly Girls, a temp service which led to her career at Citibank for 30 years. She retired in 2012, due to health issues. She was a member of First Presbyterian in Sioux Falls for 30 years and taught Sunday School for all of those 30 years. She was also an advisor for the church youth group for 13 years.

Bev enjoyed crocheting, bowling, and reading. Most of all, Bev loved to spend time with family and her grandchildren.

Bev is survived by two sons, Richard IV “Rich” (Cindy), Sioux Falls and Jeremy (Heidi), Sioux Falls; three grandchildren, Richard V, Lauren, and Darian; and four siblings, Bonnie (Gene) Schumaker, Sioux Falls, Bruce (Kathy) Nytroe, Brandon, Barb (Jim) Schartz, Brandon, and Brenda Lape, Brandon; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews

Bev was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard III; sister, Betty Dansman; one great-niece and one great-nephew.
