Batter up! Dakota Classic kicks off 2020 baseball season

Fans of baseball can get their fix this weekend at three area ballparks, including First National Bank Stadium in Brandon, where 13 American Legion teams will square off over three days. The Dakota Classic starts Friday at 5 p.m. in Brandon. In this pool, Brandon Valley will face Watertown at 5 p.m. and West Fargo and Lennox take the field at 7:30 p.m. 

BV and Lennox open play Saturday at 10:30 a.m., with games at 1 p.m. (Lennox vs. Watertown), 3:30 p.m. (Watertown vs. West Fargo) and 6 p.m. (BV vs. West Fargo).

The four teams competing in the Harrisburg pool Friday and Saturday are Brookings, Fargo Post 2, West Central and Harrisburg. They will play at Legion Field in Harrisburg.

The third pool – played at Harmodon Park in Sioux Falls both days – features Fargo 400, Mitchell, New Prague, Minn., Sioux Falls East and Sioux Falls West.

The Dakota Classic wraps up Sunday at 9:30 a.m. in Brandon with the Brandon/Harrisburg Pool Crossover Game, at 12 noon at Harmodon Park (Field 1) and Legion Field in Harrisburg with two other Brandon/Harrisburg Pool Crossover Games.

The Harrisburg Pool and Brandon Pool champions will meet at 12 noon in Brandon, and the winners from the noon game in Brandon and Sioux Falls No. 1 will play at 2:30 p.m. at First National Bank Stadium in Brandon.

Harmodon Park will serve as the host site for the entire 16U and 13/14U Dakota Classic tournaments.
