Technically, the Lady Lynx are the reigning Class AA state basketball champs. And if they play their game––technically three games–– right, Brandon Valley is sure to retain that status.
With a trip to the AA state tournament on the line––and technically the reigning state champs––the Lady Lynx overcame their slow start en route to defeating Sioux Falls Roosevelt 62-49 in Saturday’s SoDak 16 playoff.
The Lynx did some heavy lifting over the weekend, and in the process, came away with two state champion powerlifters along with 13 Brandon Valley student-athletes who placed in the top five of their respective divisions.
It may be 10 years from now, maybe 15 or a few more, but when the time comes, a group of guys associated with Brandon Valley’s 2021 Class A State champion wrestling team will relish in reliving their historic season.
The Douglas Patriots put up the first four points of Friday’s game with the Lynx, but it would be the only lead the West River boys would have, as Brandon Valley cruised to a 76-44 victory.
